The mainstream approach considers the enterprise as the symbol place of the marketpar excellence. The paper reverses this stereotype and, taking up the work of the Frenchsociologist Norbert Alter (2009), identifies the gift as a basic process of the company policies.Based on empirical ethnographic research on two of the most relevant private health carecompanies in France, the paper aims to reassess the logic of gift in the work process, humanresources management and organization government.
