The article focus on an architectural design: an house designed to pro- vide a comfortable climate for human bodies–in a region where heat, humidity and typhoons reign–at a lower energy cost, thanks to a “natu- ral air-conditioning” system. Based on an ethnography carried out on the small Japanese island of Miyakojima, where this eco-house has been set up as a model, the analysis endeavors to bring out the regimes of relation to the elements of the climate that this new form of habi- tat commands. Put into perspective with other regimes that previously existed on the island, it is then possible to identify two relationships to the elements: one in the mode of conditioning, the other in the mode of affect, which are two very different ways of inhabiting the world(s).

La réflexion porte sur une conception architecturale : un habitat pensé pour offrir aux corps humains un climat confortable – dans une région où règnent la chaleur, l’humidité et les typhons – et cela à moindre coût énergétique, grâce à un dispositif de « climatisation naturelle ». À partir d’une ethnographie menée sur la petite île japonaise de Miya- kojima, où cette eco-house a été érigée en modèle, l’analyse s’efforce de faire ressortir les régimes de relation aux éléments du climat que com- mande cette nouvelle forme d’habitat. En la mettant en perspective avec d’autres régimes qui existent antérieurement sur l’île, il est alors possible d’identifier deux rapports aux éléments : l’un sur le mode du conditionnement, l’autre sur le mode de l’affect, qui sont deux possibi- lités très différentes d’habiter le(s) monde(s).
