Les ambiances patrimoniales à l’épreuve de l’appropriation : cas de la Casbah d’Alger

Récemment, nous avons assisté au basculement de l’approche patrimoniale, passée d’une patrimonialité centrée sur l’authenticité et la conservation à une approche intégrant la dimension ambiantale et la performance humaine. Néanmoins, sur le terrain deux défaillances surgissent, d’une part la séparation des sphères matérielle et immatérielle et d’autre part la non-appropriation de l’action sur le patrimoine par les usagers. Ainsi, notre étude a pour objectif de co-construire les ambiances d’un tissu ancien avec ses habitants, et ce en mobilisant la théorie des ambiances patrimoniales conjointement au concept d’appropriation. Ce travail repose sur une étude in situ menée au niveau de la Casbah, noyau historique de la ville d’Alger. Pour ce faire, le principal outil adopté a été la méthode des parcours commentés étayée par d’autres outils d’investigation. Le résultat principal de cette étude dévoile, qu’un lieu patrimonial ayant conservé sa profonde épaisseur historique, réactive profondément l’interaction des dimensions ambiantales et engendre un fort degré d’appropriation qui pourrait aboutir à l’engagement des communautés locales.

Recently, studying heritage topic moved from a focused on authenticity and conservation related approach to a both atmospheric dimension and human performance integration based one. However, the field work reveals two shortcomings: i) a clear divide between the material and immaterial spheres, and ii) the inhabitants' non-approval of the action on the heritage. Hence, this study mobilizes the theory of heritage atmosphere together with the concept of appropriation in order to build a historical urban place's ambiences emerging from its own inhabitants. The developed approach is applied to an experimental study undertaken in the historical core of Algiers, namely the Casbah. The main adopted research method is the commented walks in addition to other secondary investigation tools. The main result of this study reveals that a heritage place, having preserved its deep historical depth, profoundly reactivates the interaction of ambient dimensions. It also could eventually generate a notorious degree of appropriation leading the engagement of local communities.
