Un análisis de la estructura termal de la estación costera "La Libertad" y su relación con los eventos ENSO

"The Navy Oceanographic Institute maintains from 1990 until this date a shore station 10 nautical miles from the La Libertad harbor (Santa Elena Peninsula) at the Ecuadorian coast. Where the water column from the surface to 100 m. depth was monitored each 20 days. From the preliminary analysis we had seen that the distribution of the isotherms responds to the presence of the ENSO events. The Ecuadorian coast is submitted, during an ENSO event to the influence of equatorial waves. During, their passage, this waves produce an elevation of the mean sea level and make deeper the isotherms. Reason to consider that the isotherms distribution has relationship with the occurrence of an ENSO events in front of our coast. On the other hand we determine the relationship between the mean sea level and the depth of the isotherms. For this effect the thermal distribution of the shore station at La Libertad will be simplified by selecting the of 20°C isotherm. It is considered a representative of the thermal distribution in this shore station."
