Maria Alice de Mattos Pimenta Parente et al., « Different Patterns of Prospective, Retrospective, and Working Memory Decline across Adulthood », Interamerican Journal of Psychology, ID : 10670/1.61gjtb
"Previous studies have compared young and old adults performance on prospective memory tasks but little attention hasbeen given to possible changes in middle-aged participants. This study was designed to compare changes in prospectivememory (PM), retrospective memory (RM), and working memory (WM) across adulthood. Eighty-five Brazilian adultswere subjected to word-spans, working memory, text recall and prospective verbal tests. Logistic regression analysisshowed that decline probability in word-span tests differed in comparison to WM and PM tests, suggesting that difficultiesin tasks that require executive functions are already present in both middle-aged adults and older adults, and underscoringthe need to include middle-aged adults in the investigation of age-related memory decline"
