An almost complete handmade pottery vessel can be highlighted among the archaeological assemblage recorded at the late Iron Age Munoaundi hillfort (Azkoitia-Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country) in recent years. It was documented half-buried at floor level in one of the houses attached to the wall. This contribution presents the systematic study of this pottery vessel, highlighting its archaeological context, as well as morpho-typological, archaeometric and organic residue analyses. The typological study is based on the comparison of the vessel with those recorded at other archaeological sites in the surroundings, allowing us to confirm continuity in the morphologies. The technological study is focused on the petrographic analysis of a thin section, completed with X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), to determine the possible catchment area of raw materials and the way of preparing the clay paste. Lastly, organic residue analysis by gas chromatography mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-combustion isotope ratio mass spectrometry is crucial to establish the use and culinary character of the vessel, related to the archaeological context.
