Résumé
[p]Terrier gives a comprehensive account of the site and its geological character. The use of gypsum in the structures’ construction together with the geological conditions underneath the settlement made the site particularly vulnerable to earthquakes. Documentary sources indicate frequent seismic events in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which together with pillage and epidemics led to the gradual desertion of the site.[/p][p_right]C.
