Sylvie Thenault, « Mouloud Feraoun. Un écrivain dans la guerre d'Algérie », Vingtième Siècle. Revue d'histoire, ID : 10.2307/3770701
Mouloud Feraoun. A Writer in the War of Algeria, Sylvie Thénault. The Kabyle writer in French, Mouloud Feraoun, was assassinated in March 1962 by an OAS commando, a few days before the beginning of the ceasefire. How could an individual with a plural identity, claiming Kabyle culture, the French educational system and Algerian dignity reconcile these different commitments during the upheaval of 1954-1962? A noted writer, in touch with Emmanuel Robles and Albert Camus, he wrote several novels published in France and Algeria that posed the painful problem of the place of French in Algerian culture; he also kept a posthumously-published journal. As a chronicle of the events, this text condemns the war and the violence and shows the wrenching of a man favorable to independence but hostile to the rupture with the Europeans of Algeria.
