Résumé 0

Bodily beauty is an aesthetic and artistic motif lauded and valued in antiquity. From appearance to ways of being, how did the ancient Greeks think about and represent it in practices and discourses, with regard to political, social, and religious norms? This paper explores the markers of bodily beauty and its manifestations and effects in classical Athens. It also shows that bodily beauty, though there may be consensus regarding its expression, remains a subject of polemics concerning both its definition and the practices that transform bodies.
