Laureano Montero Montero, « Making Chilean Films from France: Marcela Said and Jairo Boisier », HAL-SHS : histoire de l'art, ID : 10670/1.6v4gwo
Submitting projects to international funds and the subsequent festival tour are obligatory steps for most films that, outside purely commercial circuits, seek distribution and cultural legitimacy beyond their national borders. In this globalized context, European support funds are particularly important. Following the path opened by pioneering scholars (De Valck, Elsaesser, Falicov, Shaw), this article aims to study the transnational networks in which Latin American cinema is currently involved. We address this issue by focussing on the specific case of two Chilean directors based in France: Marcela Said and Jairo Boisier. By doing so, we intend to show how European and particularly French funds intervene in the incipient careers which they are developing in a transnational scene.
