Résumé
The presidential election occupies a central position on the French political scene. The principle of election by universal suffrage seems to be a democratic guarantee. However, this has not always been the case. Wars and crises change the game by promoting stable and strong figures. In the current context, the question is again raised: the election of the president clashes with expectations of more direct democracy. We must therefore reinvent the presidential function.
