Résumé En

By adopting the viewpoint of cultural transfer, we can put the trends of Chinese contemporary architecture in a longer historicalcontext. We observe a binary system that opposes China and the Occident, tradition and modernity. It characterizes a mode of thinkingbased on the reference of the Occident. In the case of the regionalism, Occidental knowledge is used as a mirror, by which the discipline ofarchitecture in China looks for his own identity, at the same time Chinese architecture is also enriching itself. Combining with considerationthe previous imports of Occidental knowledge, an iterative image emerges and shows the evolution of ideas and form. The procedure is the keyto understand contemporary Chinese architecture.
