The summer of 2022 was one of the hottest ever recorded in France. This work analyses the heat extremes during this summer 2022 at the scale of the cities of Echirolles and Grenoble (Isère, France) studied in the CASSANDRE research project. The analyses are based on daily temperature and precipitation data from 5 weather stations, set up in the cities of Grenoble and Echirolles. From the hourly data, daily values are selected over the period JJA 2022. A statistical inventory of the number of warm days (TX≥25°C), hot days (TX≥30°C), very hot days (TX≥35°C) and tropical nights (TN≥20°C) is used to characterise the duration and intensity of the 3 heat waves observed, in relation to a rural and national reference system, as well as in relation to precipitation.
