"Social indicators systems represent an important research tool for public administrations. Technological advances, increasing in-ternationalization, and growing globalization prompted the develo-pment of this gathering information technique with the purpose of knowing diěerent aspects of the social, economic and political reality at macro levels. In order to know the situation of a nation or group of countries it requires operating with multiple data bases and social indicators systems that allows synthesizing in a general index a lar-ge amount of information. As a result, it is easy to use and allows planning social and economic projects. In conclusion, due to its great capacity of synthesis in social gathering indicators, it makes it more useful than other information gathering techniques."
