Résumé 0

Access to grandparenthood involves profound changes in identity, particularly due to a new form of filiation and the discovery of a new social and family role. All these psychic movements summon up conscious and unconscious links of the subject with him/herself, with his/her children but also parents and grandparents. This article describes the case of Catherine, encountered in the context of a longitudinal study of migraine patients. Her becoming a grandparent during the study period provided an opportunity to investigate changes in her psyche. She was willing to take the Rorschach projective test on two different occasions, at the beginning of the treatment of her migraine symptoms and eight months later. Over that period the symptomatology improved considerably and the Rorschach protocols revealed profound psychological changes, shaped by her access to grandparenthood.
