This article examines the growing threat of eternal pollutants and the solutions available to limit their effects on the human body. It highlights a universal, ubiquitous and intangible threat to people’s health. Eternal pollutants, also known as PFAS, created by man and widely disseminated by industrialists involved in the Second World War effort, are at the root of environmental scandals in both the United States and Europe. Present everywhere in our daily lives, they are not without harmful effects, both for humans and for the ecosystem. Their role in the development of certain cancers has already been proven. The first part of this article deals with the recent history of this pollution and its impact on health, while the second looks at the role of general practitioners in protecting the population.

Cet article examine la menace croissante des polluants éternels et les solutions proposées accessibles pour en limiter leurs effets sur l’organisme humain. Il met en lumière une menace universelle, omniprésente et intangible pour la santé des populations. Les polluants éternels, également appelés PFAS, créés par l’Homme et largement diffusés par les industriels impliqués dans l’effort de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sont à l’origine de scandales environnementaux aussi bien aux États-Unis qu’en Europe. Présents partout dans notre quotidien, ils ne sont pourtant pas sans effets néfastes, tant pour l’Homme que pour l’écosystème. Leur rôle dans l’apparition de certains cancers a d’ores et déjà été prouvé. La première partie de cet article traite à la fois de l’histoire récente de cette pollution et de ses impacts sur la santé et la deuxième abordera la place du médecin généraliste dans la protection des populations.
