Résumé En

The reinforced concrete tower designed and built by August Perret for the 1925 International Exhibition on hydroelectric power and tourism held in Grenoble is not as famous as it should be. It does not hold a major place in the books dealing with Perret’s work and, more generally, in the history of architecture. Still, it is the first reinforced concrete tower to have been built in the world. It is also Perret’s favourite work and the first building he erected as an architect. The way in which he was awarded the contract is particularly interesting.
