As the far-right has made the denunciation of “anti-White racism” one of its favourite topics, most of the anti-racist researchers and activists reject this notion and consider it an oxymoron. This widespread rejection presupposes a monistic concept of racism as a system that produces and reproduces inequalities between social groups. Yet, nothing justifies the putting aside of the two other concepts of racism, i.e. ideological and attitudinal, especially since the “systemic racism” thesis is vulnerable to both analytical and political objections. It would be best, using a pluralist understanding of racism, to consider the existence of “anti-White racism”—likely to be marginal—as an empirical question, including to thwart the instrumentalization of this theme by the forces that are hostile to anti-racism.
