This article proposes to reconsider the myth of Helen in the 15th and 16th centuries by examining, through a few examples, the ways in which the myth was represented. The chosen approach, crossing art history and literature, highlights its narrative, symbolic and artistic functions and sheds light on its significance. The aim is to explore the re-semantisation of the heroine, who, while remaining an exemplar of the mythological repertoire, is gradually becoming an independent object of art.

Cet article se propose de revenir sur le mythe d’Hélène aux XVe et XVIe siècles en analysant, à travers quelques exemples, ses modalités de représentation. L’approche choisie, croisant histoire de l’art et littérature, permet d’en souligner les fonctions narratives, symboliques et artistiques et d’en éclairer les enjeux. Il s’agit in fine d’envisager la re-sémantisation de l’héroïne, qui, si elle reste un exemplum du répertoire mythologique, se mue progressivement en objet d’art autonome.
