Résumé
Style is the key concept in the Western history of art. It was introduced in China with the method of arthistory during the modern period. In order to fi nd a new point of view on writing the history of Chinese architecture, we will take the style as an example and observe its historical sources and the process of its introduction inChina. His original discursive order is modifi ed during this process, by what Western knowledge is used as a mirrorto interpret Chinese essence.
