Je me propose d’explorer le lien qui s’établit entre l’apparaître au sens finkéen de l’Ouvert s’auto-antécédant dans l’advenue de son sens et la surprise entendue au sens de Maldiney. Au terme de cette enquête, il est devenu évident que la surprise n’est pas un concept opératoire de la phénoménologie, pas plus qu’un concept thématique. Elle semble, si l’on suit Fink jusqu’au bout, être l’opérateur même de la philosophie du sujet, opérant son changement en «être pour soi-même».

I aim to explore the link between the appearance, as understood by Fink, of the Open that self-antecedes in the occurrence of its meaning and surprise as understood by Maldiney. At the end of this enquiry it has become obvious that surprise is not an operative concept in phenomenology and is also not a thematic concept. If we follow Fink all the way, it seems to be the very operator of the philosophy of the subject, operating its change into «being for itself» (transl. J. Dudley).
