The Termer project has enabled us to encounter a diversity of French coastal territories, which are in essence socio-geographical, places of intimate experience and links between land and sea. These links are woven between the inert and the living, the fixed and the fluid, the visible and the invisible. Some of these territories have a certain plasticity in the face of change; they have a great deal of scope for adaptation and recomposition, even if climatic and biological changes are gradually transforming them. Others do not have this plasticity, and are tipping over into past and future crises, where their shape and dynamics are profoundly challenged by global changes such as climate change.
