Eric Kerneis et al., « The contribution of grazing management to the conservation of bird habitats », HALSHS : archive ouverte en Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société, ID : 10670/1.7c0du3
This paper tackles the questions raised by the conservation of a multipurpose resource: to assess the impact of different grazing regimes on sward structure during spring. Their impact was assessed in relation to the optimal sward structure for nesting lapwing (Vanellus vanellus). Only 6 fields, with winter grazing and heavy grazing in early spring, showed a sward stucture coinciding with lapwing habitat requirements. Taking into account the habitat requirements of nesting lapwings calls attention to the delayed efects of diverse autumn grazing practices.
