Résumé
The difficulty of approaching in a balanced manner the relationship between the College of Bishops and, more broadly, the exercise of the power of each bishop in his diocese comes from the far too individualized conception of power within the Church, which considers neither the link between the bishop and his local Church nor the communion of local Churches as the cornerstone of episcopal collegiality. The article explores the complexity of these relations by looking back at the first and second Vatican councils.
