Christian Degrigny et al., « Exploitation and dissemination of MiCorr as a diagnostic support tool for heritage metals », HAL SHS (Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société), ID : 10.4995/360.2022.657201
By visually inspecting the corrosion products of metal objects, conservators propose, on the basis of their experience and consultation of specialized literature, a firstdiagnosis. The online computer application MiCorr (micorr. org) follows this path while optimizing it. Using a graphical user interface, the MiCorr user constructs a digital stratigraphy of a corrosion structure representative of the metal examined. Its comparison with those of the corrosion forms listed in the MiCorr database allows hypotheses to be made without sampling the metal studied and its alteration. In cases where there is no match agreement with the database, the user can augment it with the new form of corrosion observed. The application will be further developed within the frame of the MetalPAT project of the European Interreg V FranceSwitzerland 2014-2020 programme, which involves some twenty active contributors from the region concerned.
