The concept of “interpreting thought” advanced by Emmanuelle Chervet takes into account a current of clinical thought which gives the act of interpreting a strategic allure that is not assignable to the analyst alone, and which is specific to the French language psychoanalytic current. Although proceeding from an interpretive circuit involving both analysand and analyst, it recalls the very place from which interpretation emanates, patiently woven from “preliminary links” and intermediate formations in accordance with a model of interpretation employing long paths.
