To the opposite of indigenist politics, this manifesto calls for the resistance/rexistence of all indigenous people living in Brazil, Indian or not, of all the poor and oppressed natives who have been dispossessed of this land by the State, so that they would become submissive « citizens », exploited, watched-over, assisted. According to the author, being indigenous means belonging to a place, rather than owning it. The process of Brazilianization, which started with the dis-indianization of Indians, has persistently separated the indigenous from their relation to their territory, from the floor of their favela shack or from the garden of their backyard, in order to tranform them into workers and soldiers. That is why the Indians’ struggle is the struggle of all of Brazil’s indigenous people, whether they are white, black, mixed-blood, LGBT or women.
