Following a discovery by using a metal detector, Armorican-type socketed axes were declared to the Brittany Regional Archeology Service. A control excavation was carried out on the location of the discovery and its surrounding environment. Two hoards were identified, most of the content of which remained in place, allowing unprecedented observations on the complex organization for one, and leading to questions about a possible resumption of instruments for the other. Axes belong to the Plurien and Tréhou types only. A “blind” experiment based on the mathematical treatment of dimensions and masses only confirmed the traditional typology, but also metric overlaps between the two types of artifacts.Radiocarbon dates indisputably confirm the production of these Armorican-type socketed axes during the Early Iron Age.

Suite à une découverte de haches à douille de type armoricain au détecteur de métaux déclarée au Service régional de l’archéologie de Bretagne, une fouille de contrôle a été conduite sur l’emplacement de la découverte et son environnement proche. Deux dépôts ont été identifiés, dont l’essentiel du contenu demeurait en place, permettant des observations inédites sur la complexe organisation pour l’un, et amenant à s’interroger quant à une éventuelle reprise d’instruments pour l’autre. Les haches appartiennent aux seuls types de Plurien et de Tréhou. Une expérimentation « en aveugle » à partir du traitement mathématique des dimensions et masses n’a fait que confirmer la typologie traditionnelle, mais aussi des chevauchements métriques entre les deux types d’artefacts. Les dates radiocarbone confirment indiscutablement la production de ces haches pendant le premier âge du Fer.
