Mickaël Alignan, « 1de mayo: luchas obreras, memoria silenciada y resistencias LGBTQ+ en la Barcelona franquista », HAL SHS (Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société), ID : 10670/1.8305a7...
May 1st is a key date in the history of workers' and union struggles, especially in cities like Barcelona with strong activist traditions. However, many memories remain invisible, particularly those of LGBTQ+ individuals who also suffered under Franco’s dictatorship and participated in clandestine resistance networks. This research focuses on the intersection of labor memory and queer memory, highlighting figures like Armand de Fluvià, who co-founded the Front d’Alliberament Gai de Catalunya (FAGC) in 1975. Under repressive laws like the Social Danger Law, many LGBTQ+ people were persecuted, imprisoned, or silenced. Remembering May 1st through an inclusive lens means acknowledging that many queer people were also workers, facing both labor exploitation and marginalization due to their identity. Including their stories in labor history is an act of historical justice and recognition of all struggles for dignity.
