Résumé
This article attempts to identify the tonal characteristics of the Huainan dialect in order to clarify its linguistic classification. Additionally, a phonetic investigation of voicing realization was conducted to gain a better understanding of the differences between this dialect of Mandarin and the Mandarin spoken in Beijing, as well as the Wu language. To achieve this goal, it would be useful to investigate the current tonal realization and voicing-related acoustic parameters such as Voice Onset Time and Vratio, among native male and female speakers from urban and rural areas, as well as across different generations.
