Vulvar edema is swelling of the vulvar tissues as a result of fluid accumulation in the interstitial space, consisting of plasma or lymph. It is usually a symptom of another condition, although it can present as a distinct condition. The aim of our study was to present different cases of vulvar edema as part of our vulvar pathology case series.Materials and methodsFrom January 2020 to January 2024, we conducted a retrospective study of 70 cases of vulval edema at the dermatology department of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fes.ResultsVulvar edema can be a symptom of various systemic pathologies, sometimes indicative of an underlying pathology such as Crohn’s disease, or it may be a warning sign of a potentially serious diagnostic and therapeutic emergency, in particular pre-eclampsia in pregnancy. It sometimes requires multidisciplinary management and can affect quality of life if the underlying pathology is chronic.ConclusionThe causes of vulvar edema are many and varied. Identification of any underlying and associated conditions is essential for successful management. In cases that appear to be resistant to conventional therapy, consideration should be given to rare connective tissue tumors and neoplasms.
