Résumé 0

The industrialization of the 19th century caused the emergence of a central character in the society: the civil engineer. This is an actor of the technical progress. During the 19th century, scientific societies were born which aspired to build and to promote the knowledge of these engineers. In 1854, the Société de l’industrie minérale wished to participate in the construction and dissemination of this knowledge. This society publishes a journal in which the civil engineers working for mining industry, metal industry and mechanical engineering, explain their researches. This journal publishes experiments made in the companies. The contributors are experimenters acting in a research group managed by the “minerale” and its journal.
