La question de l’identité au Kirghizistan à travers le clivage Nord-Sud

L’article s’appuie sur les résultats d’une enquête de terrain approfondie consacrée à la question de l’identité dans le Kirghizistan contemporain. En guise d’introduction, il examine la situation actuelle des Kirghiz, situation résultant des processus de migration interne : la concentration de la population dans et autour de Bichkek, la capitale, et les représentants de toutes les autres régions du pays vivant ensemble avec leurs identités spécifiques, bien qu’ils soient en général tous de nationalité kirghize. Le « melting-pot » du Kirghiz moderne se singularise par les facteurs suivants : son aspiration à une forte affirmation identitaire reposant sur une base régionale et territoriale, le renforcement de sa lumpenisation et de sa marginalisation, et l’accentuation de ses caractéristiques liées à une structure tribale propre à la société kirghize traditionnelle.

The article is based on the results of an in-depth field study devoted to the question of identity in contemporary Kyrgyzstan. By way of introduction, it examines the current situation of the Kyrgyz, a situation that has resulted from the processes of internal migration: the concentration of the population in and around Bishkek, the capital, and the representatives of all the other regions of the country living together with their specific identities, even though they are generally all of Kyrgyz nationality. The "melting pot" of modern Kyrgyz distinguishes itself by the following factors: its aspiration to strong identity affirmation based on regional-territorial lines, the reinforcement of its lumpenization and marginalization, and the accentuation of its characteristics related to a tribal structure specific to traditional Kyrgyz society.
