The discovery at the beginning of the new millennium of a coin hoard at the ancient site of Iulia Livica (present-day Llívia, Spain) provides the impetus to deal with certain specific trends of practices which surround the small bronze coinage of the 6th century. The content of the hoard at Llívia allows one to recognise the widespread usage of imitating products, of which the often tiny weights were integrated into a general metrology over a vast area of the Mediterranean. To this can be added the presence of two Vandalic and Byzantine coins.
