This article analyzes some of the transformations of the notion of freedom ofreligious convictions derived from the new approach on the matter that thePolitical Constitution of 1991 brought to Colombian society.An analysis was carried out between the Political Constitution of 1886 and thatof 1991, showing how the principle of religious tolerance was introduced inColombia. This principle also means respect for those agnostic and/or atheistpeople, who prefer to believe in the use of human reason to decide for themselvesabout their life principles.This text presents three religious events that occurred in France before the Revolution,that is, before the development of the ideas of the French Enlightenment, as examplesof how dangerous religious authoritarianism can be.These facts are presented to make us realize the importance of respect for individualfreedoms, and above all the importance of using human reason to freeoneself from the blindfolds that beliefs impose, and even more so when thosebeliefs become fanaticism.

Este artículo analiza algunas de las transformaciones de la noción de libertadde convicciones religiosas derivadas del nuevo enfoque que sobre la materiaaportó a la sociedad colombiana la Constitución Política de 1991.Se realizó un análisis entre la Constitución Política de 1886 y la de 1991, mostrandocómo se introduce en Colombia el principio de Tolerancia religiosa. Esteprincipio significa igualmente, el respeto a aquellas personas agnósticas y/oateas, que prefieren creer en el uso de la razón humana para decidir por símismas acerca de sus principios de vida.Este texto presenta tres hechos religiosos ocurridos en Francia antes de la Revolución,es decir, antes del desarrollo de las ideas de la Ilustración francesa,como ejemplos de lo peligroso que puede ser el autoritarismo religioso. Estoshechos se presentan para darnos cuenta de la importancia del respeto de laslibertades individuales, y sobre todo de la importancia de utilizar la razónhumana para desligarse de las vendas que las creencias imponen, y más cuandoesas creencias se vuelven fanatismo.
