Céline Gailleurd, « The Gold of Atlantis. Italian silent cinema and the arts », HAL-SHS : histoire de l'art, ID : 10670/1.8wv2yr
Archives and film libraries, there are still continents to be discovered. One of these is undoubtedly the relationship between Italian silent films and the arts. It is the Atlantis gold of national cinema at the beginning of the 20th century: a treasure trove of ideas, discourses, anticipations, and marvellous false starts, on which oblivion seemed to have fallen for years. Thanks to patient research work, Céline Gailleurd, together with scholars and scholars from different countries, now manages to recover its memory. The essays contained in this volume not only renew the aesthetic-artistic question regarding early Italian cinema by opening it up to new interpretations, but also testify to the desire to foster an international synergy, enhancing the funds of national and international film archives and the skills of those working within them.
