Cet article vise à dégager une organisation dans les variations des multiples valeurs du verbe dire à partir d’une caractérisation fondée sur la notion de forme verbale, à la fois suffisamment générale pour rendre compte du statut d’hyperonyme des verbes de paroles qui lui est couramment attribué, et pour constituer le point de départ d’un raisonnement propre à structurer cette organisation spécifique en montrant comment ce verbe met en œuvre des mécanismes fondamentaux de l’activité de langage à travers l’articulation qu’il établit entre langue, monde, sens et sujets parlants. The aim of this article is to put forward an organization in the variations of the numerous uses of the verb dire, based on a characterization involving the notion of verbal form. This characterization is meant to be both highly general in order to account for its recognized role as an hyperonym for verbs dealing with verbal expression, and to allow a reasoned structuration of this organization, showing how this verb works out essential mecanisms of language activity through the specific articulation it introduces beetween language, meaning, speaking subjects and the world.
