New high-tech start-ups face the same problems as all young companies, but they also have specific difficulties arising from their origin, their very nature and their environment. Philippe Albert and Philippe Mougenot have studied the first three years of activity of one hundred and twenty-nine innovative companies. Here, they provide a detailed analysis of the characteristics of this new style of company, and demonstrate the extent to which they require a type of management adapted to their environment.
