Le soin c’est l’accompagnement d’une personne en souffrance ; être soignant, c’est comprendre ce que le monde fait des hommes et ce que les hommes font du monde. Nous pensons que l’accès au soin est avant tout un accès à l’autre, un accès à la rencontre, un accès au monde. Pour le toxicomane, le corps est le centre de la vie. C’est un symptôme révélateur de maux individuels, mais c’est aussi l’indice d’un mal être social. Dans une société que l’on pourrait dire altéricide, les toxicomanes se suffisent à eux-mêmes, sans nécessité du recours à l’autre et à d’autres objets que leur corps. Le soin est une façon de réintroduire l’autre, les autres, peu à peu dans la vie des toxicomanes. Soigner c’est naître. Naître à l’autre. Naître à l’autre par la co-construction, la co-pensée.

Caring is the support of a suffering; to be nursing, is to understand what the world makes of men and what men make of the world. We think that the access to care belongs to, before anything else, an access to the other, an access to a meeting, an access to the world. For the drug addict, the body is the center of life. It is a revealing symptom of individual troubles, but it is also the indication of a social ill-being. In a society which we could call 'altercide', the drug addicts are self-sufficient to themselves, without the need to appeal to others or any other object than their own body. Caring is a way of reintroducing the other one, the others, little by little in the life of drug addicts. Caring is being born. Being born to the other one. Being born to the other one by co-construction and co-thought.
