Résumé 0

This study focuses on relapse among drug users in Abidjan. It aims to analyze the impact of social relationships between recovering drug addicts and those in their immediate circle on their addiction. Data was processed using content analysis to analyze the meaning of the respondents’ speech. The results show that the social stigma experienced by ex-drug users during their periods of abstinence fosters their relapse into psychoactive substances. The stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination associated with stigma resulted in feelings of rejection, loss of value, self-stigmatization, and the severing of the drug user’s family ties. In terms of prevention, it is necessary to strengthen the place and role of the immediate circle in the drug user’s therapeutic process.
