Esta entrevista es fruto de un intercambio que mantuvimos con Antonio Altarriba y Keko, respectivamente guionista e ilustrador de la trilogía Yo cuyos tres volúmenes se publicaron entre 2014 y 2021. Cada uno de estos álbumes constituye una inmersión en un universo a la vez estético y social muy peculiar, a través del cual los autores ofrecen un relato que pretende entretener, sin por ello estar desprovisto de claves de interpretación de los disfuncionamientos de la sociedad occidental en la que cobran vida. La ciudad, aunque siempre parece hacer las veces de trasfondo, ocupa sin embargo un lugar estructurante fuerte, operando como nexo entre la arquitectura del relato y la arquitectura de la página. En sus respuestas a nuestras preguntas, Antonio Altarriba y Keko hablan de su proceso creativo y su colaboración, desvelando así, durante unos instantes, las entrañas del escenario urbano de una sabrosa trilogía negra.

Cette interview est le fruit d’un échange que nous avons eu avec Antonio Altarriba et Keko, respectivement scénariste et dessinateur de la trilogie Yo dont la publication des trois tomes s’étale entre 2014 et 2021. Chacun de ces albums constitue une plongée dans un univers à la fois esthétique et social bien particulier, à travers lequel les auteurs livrent un récit qu’ils veulent divertissant, sans pour autant qu’il soit dénué de clés d’interprétation des travers de la société occidentale dans laquelle ils prennent vie. La ville, bien qu’en apparence toujours en arrière-plan de ces intrigues, y occupe pourtant une place structurante forte, opérant la jointure entre architecture du récit et architecture de la page. Antonio Altarriba et Keko reviennent, à travers les réponses qu’ils donnent à nos questions, sur leur processus créatif et leur collaboration, dévoilant ainsi, l’espace de quelques instants, l’envers du décor urbain d’une trilogie noire savoureuse.

This interview is the fruit of an exchange we had with Antonio Altarriba and Keko, respectively the scriptwriter and illustrator of the Yo trilogy, the three volumes of which will be published between 2014 and 2021. Each of these albums is a plunge into a very particular aesthetic and social universe, through which the authors deliver a story that they aim to entertain, without being devoid of keys to interpreting the failings of the Western society in which they come to life. The city, while seemingly always in the background of these intrigues, nevertheless occupies a strong structuring place, operating as a link between the architecture of the story and the architecture of the page. In their answers to our questions, Antonio Altarriba and Keko talk about their creative process and their collaboration, giving us a glimpse behind the urban scenes of a delicious noir trilogy.
