When the body comes to express the unthinkable The author considers the problems encountered by a young child who was unable to « be born psychically » into a family that had been subjected to the trauma of an older child’s handicap. She describes both the dynamics at play between the projective and alienating parental identifications and the symptomatic solutions developed by the child, and the effects of the therapeutic work destined to enable the child to create its own psychic envelope.
