Résumé En

This hommage to Werner Krauss includes, in addition to a selected bibliography of his publications concerning the Enlightenment, a personal evocation by Yvon Belaval. Jean Varloot and Jean-Robert Armogathe trace the outlines of his life, from resistance and imprisonment during the war, to the years at the University of Leipzig and the Academy of Sciences in Berlin, where he formed a group of specialists who have contributed to a new understanding of the 18th Century. The authors emphasize not only his erudition and the breadth and variety of his studies, but also the personal qualities of this exceptional individual.
