Le commandement de la raison pratique résonne comme une transcendance intérieure au sujet. L’appel du devoir se substitue par conséquent à l’altérité et au pouvoir extérieurs de Dieu. Mais l’épreuve morale de la liberté transcendantale ainsi que le penchant originaire au mal mettent en évidence la finitude humaine. C’est pourquoi Kant maintient la nécessité de la religion, du christianisme comme seule et vraie religion, religion naturelle dans les limites de la simple raison. L’homme devant être à la hauteur de son principe intérieur, il faut qu’il s’élève vers sa nature suprasensible. La condition humaine, finie, divisée, a donc besoin d’une grâce auxiliaire, que l’homme doit mériter par ses actions.

The orders of practical reason sounds as a transcendence that is interior to the subject. Therefore the call of duty stands before the alterity and transcendental might of God. But the moral ordeal of transcendental liberty as well as the original trend to the evil throw the light upon human finitude. Hence Kant upholds the necessity of religion, of Christianity as the only true religion, which is a natural religion within the borders of simple reason. As the human being has to cling to the high level of his interior principles, he has to raise towards his super sensible nature. The human condition, finite, divided, therefore needs an auxiliary grace, a grace that men have to earn through their deeds.
