The earliest collections relating to computer technology appeared practically at the same time as com- puters began to be used in busi- nesses. If we include objects and machines used for calculations, thenotion covers a vast period of hu- man history. The relationship between computers and mathema- tics is to be found in the collections of science museums, either in the earliest exhibitions specifically devoted to computers or in the later developments brought to the mu- seum’s permanent collections. And today, many company museums are dedicated to information tech- nology and digital matters.
