Résumé
Monkeys had functioned as human allegories ; but monkeys in the novels of Sorel and Tristan L’Hermite show, centred on the issue of intelligence, an analytic aim at differentiating the animal from the human, which enables these works to position themselves in the scientific and philosophical debate of the time.
