Mohammad Djalili, « Iran’s Place in the Middle-Eastern Crisis », Politique étrangère, ID : 10670/1.ad078b...
Iran’s priorities regarding its regional politics are to maintain the current regime and, given its relative isolation, to reinforce security. In view of the situation’s deterioration, the Islamic republic is reinforcing its defense and deploying a rather imbalanced strategy combining its various allies in the regional crises, and without any systematic recourse to Shiite custom. The 2015 nuclear agreement and the Syrian crisis could push Iran out of its comparative regional isolation.
