L’enclos cultuel laténien des « Jardins familiaux » à Sin-le-Noble (Nord, France) : dépôts mixtes de monnaies d’or et d’orfèvrerie celtique avec la collaboration de En Fr

Résumé En Fr

Land development at Le Raquet, in the municipalities of Douai, Lambres and Sin-le-Noble (département du Nord, France) led to excavations, in 2011-2012, supervised by the Communauté d’agglomération du Douaisis – Direction de l’archéologie préventive, over an area of 1.3 hectares. The ditches of a quadrangular enclosure of about 40 meters long, partially destroyed by erosion, were discovered. Excavations of the ditches have provided various finds which allow a partial hypothesis that this area was used as a cult site. The ditch yielded the burial of an individual in a constrained position ; three (?) separate f inds of coins and gold jewelry together (deposits #1-3); a complete vase containing organic residues (deposit #4) and ten terracotta loom weights (deposit #5). These finds were carefully studied allowing for a detailed analysis of their complexities. The coins are found associated with gold objects: ten uniface ‘Ambiani’ staters and seven ‘au bateau’ quarter-staters were found with a gold armband in deposit #1; seven staters and four quarter-staters were found in deposit #2 while a stater and a gold ring were discovered in deposit #3. A study of the associated ceramics points to a period of use in the middle of the first century BCE. The contexts in which the coins were discovered are dated to 50/ 40-30 BCE, just after the Gallic Wars. The filling-in of the ditches predates the reign of the emperor Augustus.
