Building on Andrea Dworkin’s insights into gender and race in Israel, this article delves into the genealogical and sociological connections between patriarchy, the nation-state, and war. It argues that the historical and global exclusion of women and people of color from citizenship is not incidental, but rather a direct consequence of the deep-rooted patriarchal, colonial and conflict-driven foundations of the nation-state. The article further contends that beyond merely excluding these groups, the nation-state’s very mode of governance is inherently exclusionary, belligerent, and predatory towards life itself. Based on this premise, the author explores potential alternatives, beginning with a look at “women’s lands”, and leading us to the mountains of Kurdistan, where women are at the forefront of a revolution aimed at transcending the horizon of the nation-state.
