Résumé En

This paper presents the results of the excavations undertaken in Area 1 of ancient Hegra (modern MadāΜin СāliΉ) in north-westernSaudi Arabia. The four seasons conducted from 2008 to 2011 in the residential area have revealed a long sequence of domesticoccupation between the fifth–fourth century BC and the fourth–fifth century AD. The interdisciplinary study of the archaeologicaland bio-archaeological material has identified different activities performed in this area during its latest phase of occupation and hasdated the abandonment of the ancient city.
